NSFC History
In October 2019, Nordic Submission Fighting Championship started as a small local competition, FTV Invitation, in the Fight Team Vejen gym in Vejen, Denmark. Here, the usual 10×10 meter training mat was split in two to host the 60 local competitors in an all-levels, All-subs-allowed, round-robin format. Where the purpose was to allow competitors to work the full spectrum of submissions.
As the first competition was a huge success, and our close colleagues in KIF brydning were hosting Denmark’s largest wrestling competition, Kolding Cup. We were invited collaborate and host the FTV Invitation Vol. 2 in Kolding beginning of January 2020. Which lay the foundation for an amazing teamwork and future work. Furthermore, we introduced the registration system Smoothcomp, and hosted grappling on 12×12 meter wrestling mats.
The 3rd edition of FTV Invitation was quickly planed for Autumn 2020. However, due to worldwide lockdowns and the inability to train. FTV Invitation Vol.3 was postponed until autumn 2021, where the very last FTV Invitation was held.
Post Lockdown
Post lockdowns the competition had gained lots of traction with competitors from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, England and other Northern European countries. This led to the birth of Nordic Submission Fighting Championship, NSFC, where the experienced organizers from Kolding Cup had taken on the role as the main organizers.
With this new brand and championship, the very first NSFC championship belt was now on the line.
Plans for the future
We are constantly working on giving all the competitors the very best experience and improve the standards for grappling competitions. During the coming competition a bunch of new things will be added:
- Livestreaming fights from alle the mats
- NSFC Fightwear
- Additional photographers
Furthermore, we are looking to move in as:
- Fighters’ promotion
- Become the largest submission fighting championship in Northern Europe
- Showcase the top grappling competitors in Europe
